Come Lend a Hand at the NH Book Festival

Thank you to all the volunteers who’ve signed up for a shift at the 2026 festival! And there’s still time to register–volunteers are the engine that drives the weekend event! Without our volunteers, there would be no festival. Check out these roles and choose the one that best fits your personality. Most volunteer shifts last only two to three hours, which leaves plenty of time to enjoy the free Saturday festival.

  • Excited about meeting new people? The volunteer check-in table, located in the lobby of the Capitol Center for the Arts, is just the ticket for you! You will be in the center of the action (the adult author panels take place all day long in the CCA) as you greet & check in volunteers, give out badges & volunteer t-shirts, and connect volunteers with team captains.

  • Want to attend all the adult or KidLit panels, and meet the authors and moderators? Join the Panel Support Team! Roles include handling the roving mic for audience Q & A’s, serving as timekeeper for the moderator, and counting attendeesl.

  • Are you helpful and chatty? Do you prefer to be outside on Main Street, observing all the action? If this describes YOU, sign up for a slot as a “greeter” in the info booth (actually a pop-up tent, located in front of Gibson’s Bookstore). You’ll be part of a team that welcomes attendees, shares the Festival map, answers questions, and directs attendees to author panels.
